A tentative vote goes the way of Horseford Hill in the finale, with Furmigadelagiusta, Metaphoric, Eglevski, Tempelstern and Phreeze all to be considered. There are plenty to choose from, but with a step up in trip to suit, the lightly-raced Horseford Hill might be the one to side with. David Elsworth's charge shaped with a degree of promise when sixth to Tranquil Tiger on his Newmarket debut, and returned to headquarters to open his account over 10-furlongs. Being a half-brother to stayer Taxman, he will have no problems with tonight's longer trip, and can put himself in the shop window for some potential enquiries from National-Hunt trainers. Furmigadelagiusta is another that will not mind the trip, and his Newbury success has been franked by the runner-up Loulwa. Metaphoric's Derby aspirations faded away in the Chester Vase, and he needed plenty of rousting to get into contention in the two-mile Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot, finishing sixth in the end. He has the ability to win this, but with topweight, is worth taking on, while of the remainder, in-form Alan Swinbank saddles bottom-weight Phreeze. Both Tempelstern and Eglevski have place claims as well, and in a bit of a head-scratcher just a modest vote goes the way of Horseford Hill.
