        In depth

        Verdict

        Fann has solid claims on recent form but a 5lb rise for his latest defeat and testing underfoot conditions are a concern so a better bet may be Let Slip, who is preferred to Dimelight. The last mentioned has had the three runs necessary for a handicap mark and could be of interest on his debut in this grade, especially with the yard's horses generally improving for their first run of the season. An ability to handle the ground has to be taken on trust though whereas Let Slip will relish the going and, provided that he can put a disappointing effort at Windsor last time behind him, the Willie Jarvis-trained filly looks the one to beat. Greenmeadow was well held on her reappearance and is unproven on the ground, while Ignition is more exposed than most of these. Celtic Spa is hard to back on recent evidence and a safer option looks to be Let Slip, who gets the vote.
