A difficult race especially in view of the number of soft ground performers taking their chances so we take a big chance with Aston versus Bellaney Jewel and Devil's Run. This is a big step up in grade for Aston but he looks as if he should handle the trip and ran a solid enough reappearance at Hexham behind Bafana Boy. Bellaney Jewel is the form horse without question. She coped well with conditions at Kelso but connections were not so keen on the day about how fast the conditions were so it is a big surprise to see her declared on ground that is scheduled to be good-to-firm. Devil's Run invariably runs well at Sedgefield. There is no doubt as to stamina but his previous wins have come with significantly greater cut in the ground. Supreme Breeze habitually runs on and off the bridle but the 11-year-old is fresher than most. Your A Gassman's form has tailed off completely this term without seemingly any reason as to why. Ferdy Murphy's team are running well but it is hard to make a case based on anything seen in the last nine months. Course specialist, Harlov has to bounce back from a very poor run at Kelso last week. Aston has form on the ground and we will take Richard Guest's unexposed type to dent a few lofty reputations.
