RUPIN has been saved for better ground as he sauntered home on good going over timber at Carlisle in October. He couldn't handle soft ground at Newcastle subsequently but the 7lb he receives from Wetherby winner Riptide may be enough as the latter was far from convincing in beating his two rivals on the Yorkshire track. Cabbyl Doo hasn't done quite as well as expected and has run poorly on fast ground in the past but Downward Spiral should have no problems taking to the bigger obstacles as he won a point-to-point in Ireland.
