In depth

Verdict

Malcolm Jefferson won this in 2008 and winning bumper Scales showed plenty of promise on his hurdling debut at Uttoxeter. Tim Easterby enjoyed a wonderful Flat campaign and will have been encouraged by the racecourse debut of One For Luck in a bumper here in April. Angel Sun didn't show much on his hurdling debut at Aintree but should have come on for the experience. He was just behind Turbolinas when runner-up in a bumper here in February but the winner has been beaten a distance in both starts over timber. SIMPLY NED was given a patient ride by Fearghal Davis when scoring easily at Kelso and his mount is impossible to oppose here despite conceding weight all round.
