Verdict

Lord Alyn gets the confident vote here with Deneises Blossom, Nautical Star and Danzig Prince the others for the shortlist. The selection looks the clear form pick and Andrew Tinkler has a fine strike rate when riding for Charlie Egerton, which further fuels the confidence. This gelding was well-fancied over course and distance last time when brought down at the first, and he is taken to get back on the winning trail here despite the burden of top weight. Deneises Blossom was a fair fifth in a chase behind the well-regarded Inching Closer last time and has definite place claims with the switch back to hurdles sure to suit. But he still remains a maiden after 29 attempts so can't be backed with any confidence. Nautical Star would have chances on his best form but he was disappointing last time behind Moscow Dancer at Kelso, so will have to step-up on that effort to make the frame here. Danzig Prince ran well behind Don Valentino at Doncaster last time and has place claims, while Al Mabrook is in fair form at present and could go well, but in a competitive race Lord Alyn is our choice.
