In depth

Verdict

Patrixbourne in the first time visor could be a decent each-way chance in this contest and Glen Rouge has shown some reasonable form this year including a decent win at Uttoxeter in April, but whilst this is a wide open handicap hurdle we very tentatively side with WEATHER PERMITTING for David Pipe to come good in this contest and grab a first victory. Although the form is not necessarily there for this horse under rules, good back-to-back wins in points suggest that it may pay to side with him here. Patrixbourne remains a somewhat unknown quantity having shown some glimpses of quality last year only to lose by twenty-seven lengths at Bangor in his last appearance last July. Dark Halo placed third in his last start but was some way behind the winner and although likely to come on for that outing will need to find a bit more to get in to the frame here. Glen Rouge won three races ago in a solid performance and was a close runner up when last seen at Cartmel. He could be the main danger but we side cautiously give the vote to Weather Permitting.
