In depth

Verdict

Gordon Elliott sends over The Abbey, who won twice in Ireland in May but hasn’t pulled up any trees since and tries a new trip. Dee Star has done most of his winning at Carlisle but NO CRUISE YET won on soft ground at Haydock less than a year ago and was second over this trip at Bangor later. Third in the Eider at Newcastle in February, his form tailed off after that but he may have been refreshed by a break. Marshalled has won at Newcastle and Cartmel this year but wouldn’t want the going to deteriorate further but Jesuitique likes the mud and still has scope over the larger obstacles. Geryville stays well and so does Tommie Beau, who is starting to slip down the weights again.
