In depth

Verdict

This marathon is normally staged at the end of the season but a switch in the calendar has attracted a decent field of stayers. Lackamon is listed as the winner in 2013 and is 5lb lower. He can't be discounted while Sun Cloud won the North Yorkshire National over this trip at Catterick in January. Jurisdiction had Chapolimoss behind when winning at veterans' race at Cartmel in May but this is much more competitive. Royale Knight beat Scotswell over 4m at Kelso last season but is possibly a few pounds too high and more interesting are novices Kilbree Kid and MANY STARS. Both look to have plenty of stamina but the former was beaten 15 lengths by Ballybough Gorta in July so the vote goes to Dan Skelton's charge, who had little to beat at Exeter but hasn't been overburdened on his handicap debut.
