In depth

Verdict

Hope Of An Angel did us a favour when landing a very competitive nursery at Galway at 12/1. There was no fluke about that victory and the form has already been franked so a follow-up is a distinct possibility. However, all of her runs to date have been on fast going and today's conditions may not be ideal so GENTLEMAN DUKE gets the vote. Arthur Moore rarely has juvenile runners but this one, a son of Bachelor Duke, who landed a very high-class Irish 2000 Guineas in 2004, made a promising debut on ground with some give over 7f here three weeks ago and is certain to have come on for the run. Belleau ran poorly behind Suntan on softish going at the Curragh after scoring on fast ground at Roscommon and is overlooked while Jim Bolger's Deorai was well beaten on her racecourse debut at Cork on Sunday after attracting major support.
