    In depth

    Verdict

Eightfold's first run in a handicap elicited considerable improvement as he hunted up the progressive Church Field. Joint top weight looks a tough ask but he looks on the upgrade after only four hurdles outings and certainly warrants short-list inclusion. Engai, a five-time winner in Germany, has steadily come to terms with British hurdling and last week's second to Party Palace in a Newton Abbot handicap was a step forward on previous achievements. He'll be on the premises on that evidence but BROCTUNE PAPA GIO is the preference in the hope that all is well with him as he's been absent since scoring at Doncaster on the first day of March. A four-time winner on the level, his Flat speed proved crucial that day and can do so again around this sharp track.
