In depth

Verdict

A trio of three-year-olds shape up against the older brigade with GLEAMING SUN making most appeal on the back of a promising handicap debut here last month when an excellent second to the well-punted Monks Stand, who runs earlier on the card, with the rest comfortably accounted for. He was not fancied in the market that day and Michael Easterby will be pleased he's only been raised a pound by the handicapper. With improvement likely, he can get off the mark returned to course and distance. Sir Geoffrey, a standing dish here, remains competitive at this level at the age of 12 and looks dangerous with Finley Marsh claiming a handy 5lb. Bonjour Steve would be a major treat as well if returning to his best and the booking of David Probert should aid his cause.
