Verdict

A tough one to call but Strong Magic is fancied to finally end his long losing run, with Free To Run preferred over Pessimistic Dick as the best of the rest. The selection has run with admirable consistency in defeat on numerous occasions and deserves a change of fortune. He was obviously outclassed when finishing a distant fifth behind Jair Du Cochet at Huntingdon last time but returns to a more realistic level with a solid chance at the weights today. Trainer, John Cornwall has always though the world of his charge and his patience could be rewarded if Strong Magic can negotiate a clear round this afternoon. Free Return has a useful claimer booked for the ride and is another to consider, but he finds little off the bridle and will need luck on his side if he gets involved in a scrap. Pessimistic Dick also has claims for the forecast slot but, he too may find Strong Magic a touch more determined
