In depth

Verdict

It may be worth chancing a small investment in Chater Knight, who rider's 3lb claim helps to tip the scales in his favour, with Romil Star and Sun Hill likely to be waiting in the wings to pounce in the event of any mishaps. It will also be interesting to see how the market speaks about Ocean King, who makes his Southwell debut this afternoon. However, the fact he has switched stables three times during the last four months hardly inspires confidence, and there is too much guesswork involved where he is concerned. Sun Hill has a solid chance at the weights and, as he is effective on the surface, he should not be underestimated in what may turn out to be a tactical affair. Whereas Romil Star can never be ruled out at this level and is sure to be a popular choice in the betting market. Even so, Chater Knight is unexposed at this trip and looks a more worthy betting proposition in a tricky little race to assess.
