Verdict

HIGH CROSS makes the most appeal on pedigree and gets a ready vote of confidence. Zarilan showed signs of temperament during his time in Ireland but has the benefit of a touch more experience, so could be a big threat in a small field like this, while Miss Christophene was a clear second best to a useful type last time out and is also entitled to respect on the face value of that effort. However, that form has taken a subsequent knock and she already has a bit to find with the selection. Therefore, this looks best left to High Cross, who is sure to improve as she gains more knowledge about the game. As a half-sister to an Irish Oaks winner, High Cross can be expected to appreciate a stiffer test in due course. However, the filly's breeding oozes class and it will be surprising if she is not good enough to see today's task through to the end today.
