    Verdict

KATIE GALE has a 9lb hike to contend with after a cosy win over 2m here last month with a below par Layline tailed off. But she still has room for further progress and Mike Appleby's mare is taken to go in again. Santayana also won easily enough last time when scoring at Wolverhampton but is facing tougher opposition today while Back Burner had every chance in an apprentices' race here yesterday and will escape a penalty in this if successful. Jans Smuts and Valentine's Gift are easily dismissed in their current poor form.
