In depth

Verdict

It may be worth forgiving So Sober a below par run last time as he goes well at this track and can bounce back in this company. Pleasure Time and Levelled make the most appeal out of the remainder, although the selection's stablemate, Roko, has bits and pieces of form that give him claims at this level and he is another to monitor in the betting. Pleasure Time put in one of his better efforts at Wolverhampton last month and would be right in the shake-up if he runs to that level again. However, he has can never be relied upon to run two races the same and, at the age of twelve, it is a risky proposition to just assume that he will be firing on all cylinders today. Levelled is another old-timer that cannot be ruled out at this level. Still, his record of just two wins from 31 previous All Weather starts speaks for itself and he is for the brave only today. Roko has won over six furlongs here in the past and is far less exposed than most of the rest. However, he needs to improve greatly on recent form and is passed over in favour of his travelling companion. So Sober proved to be well suited to racing at this level last year, when he won on his third start after his winter break. The seven-year-old comes here on the back of a similar preparation and, as Darren Williams knows exactly how to get the best out of him, So Sober has enough in his favour to be given another chance today.
