Verdict

Charlotte Grey, Nautical and Mister Benji all rate highly but we'll take a flyer and nominate ACTUALITY. The first three named have obvious claims and Charlotte Grey remains well enough handicapped on the best of her form despite having to carry a penalty for that success but she has yet to win beyond six so may not be able to confirm the form. Penel should come on for his New Year's Day outing over a mile and won a couple of races over course and distance in 2006 from similar marks so enters calculations but John Balding's runner could be worth chancing at a price. He's a fairly new arrival at the yard from Ireland and has only a 2005 maiden success for Marcus Tregoning to his name but ran well enough at Lingfield to think that he can find races from his current mark. He wasn't beaten far on that latest start and the fitting of cheekpieces may enable Actuality to find sufficient improvement to score on his fibresand debut.
