    Verdict

    First Knight was very green on debut at Kempton and may need more time and a longer trip. MIDLIGHT looks the pick of the newcomers on breeding so gets the nod. David Simcock's gelding is a half-brother to two winners on the Polytrack over this trip and one of his siblings also won on soft going on Turf so he should handle the surface. The Whipper gelding Star System is probably the danger as the filly Eliza is from a stable not especially noted for first-time winners.
