In depth

Verdict

This looks set to develop into a match between Camerooney and POSITIVITY, with narrow preference for the latter. Brian Smart's filly helped land the yard a hat-trick on the day she last ran and a 4lb rise for that course and distance success looks fair. That was her first success in 17 starts but it was her first try at a mile and perhaps it can open the door to further success. Camerooney is a clear threat to our selection, arriving as he does in search of a course and distance hat-trick. The gelding carries a penalty for winning last time which makes life tougher and we feel that the value may lie with our pick. New Couture is an interesting handicap debutant for a good yard so a market check is advised, although at this stage the Montjeu filly doesn't appeal as a likely winner with questions to answer with regards trip and surface. Bajan Pride was comfortably held behind Camerooney last time and has plenty to do to reverse that form, so of more interest is Great Bounder who finished second here off this mark in November. Kannon showed a bit more spark when third to our selection last time but the mare was still well held and the form should be confirmed, whilst Edin Burgher has been off the track form almost two years and didn't seem to enjoy the surface when last racing here. A fascinating end to the card with little between the two likely market principles, however we'll take the filly Positivity to hopefully provide her trainer with a daily double.
