Verdict

Rockmount River would be interesting after a promising debut behind the useful Chase The Wind here in May but was never competitive when a well-beaten favourite at Worcester subsequently. A first-time visor is applied now and he's far from ruled out. Thatchers Gold has finished runner-up on three of four starts and should be in the frame once more, especially as quick conditions suit well. Retrieve is the most fascinating performer on view, having started life for Godolphin in Australia before moving to Newmarket. His last success actually came at HQ in Listed company in 2012 and he may well prove a cut above these after being given a break since contesting a couple of better races over timber last winter. However, FLASH TOMMIE wasn't at all disgraced on his last two starts and his style of running suggests a drop in trip on quick ground is what's required. He should run a solid race and offer better value than the Ferguson candidate.
