In depth

Verdict

Deep Pockets is our pick in the hunter chase with Yeoman Sailor and West Paces rated the best of the rest. Jamie Snowden has been making quite a name for himself this year and he has an excellent record in this type of race. He rode Deep Pockets to victory last month at Exeter. That was his first start under rules but he won impressively following four wins in six starts in point-to-point races. He beat Mister Club Royal by 14 lengths that day and there is no reason to expect that form can be turned around. West Paces has run well in this grade and it would be no surprise to see him run well here. Yeoman Sailor had some good form under rules in his younger days and he was not disgraced when third in a hunter chase at Newbury last month. A more enterprising ride can see him go close this time and he is the main danger to our choice Deep Pockets.
