In depth

Verdict

A very competitive handicap hurdle that could go to Celtic Son, with Royal Prodigy and Lowe Go put forward as the main rivals. We did think Martin Pipe's six-year-old was going to do a Royal Hector after taking advantage of a lenient mark on his seasonal debut. But he was beaten on Saturday when odds on, finishing almost two lengths behind Basilea. The fact that Mr Pipe has brought him out again so soon suggests he is trying to run up a sequence with this one and Saturdays form could turn out to be quite decent. So with that in mind Celtic Son is the one for us. Royal Prodigy's best recent effort came at Ludlow last month when a close up third behind Pure Mischief, a repeat of that effort should see him fighting for a place. Lowe Go did well behind Royal Hector last time and is gradually slipping down the weights, expect a big run from this one. Musical Mayhem should be watched closely ion the market following a long lay off, but Celtic Son may still be ahead of the handicapper and he gets the vote.
