In depth

Verdict

CRICKET BOY is given one last chance to prove himself to be well treated ahead of No More Whispers and Cloudier. David Pipe's charge was smashed off the boards to make a winning handicap debut at Exeter in November before eventually being pulled up. That race has produced a couple of winners, so whilst he needs to put that and a subsequent ninth firmly in the past he may well do so now granted quicker ground. It may also be significant that Timmy Murphy takes over in the saddle, so in the hope connections are right about their charge he's given a final opportunity to score. No More Whispers looks nothing special but might be a bit better than a 95 rated animal and this is a poor race, so Evan Williams' charge has claims. The yard do well here too, so whilst three miles and softer ground would appear better conditions for the five-year-old he may still get involved. Cloudier is another with a chance now dropped back in trip. Tim Vaughan's charge has only won a seller but looks reasonably treated and the fact Richard Johnson takes the ride offers hope. Eddie Dowling will love the ground so must be considered, but he's lacked form of late and can only be watched despite dropping down 10lbs in the ratings. Prescelli needs a market check on her handicap debut having won a bumper on good ground whilst Witch Of The Wave and Couer Brule cannot be totally discounted, but with Timmy Murphy on board we'll put Cricket Boy in to bat once more.
