In depth

Verdict

Viking Warrior can usually be relied on to run his race and is only 3lb higher than when scoring at Catterick last month. He'll be thereabouts while Steel Stockholder won here in June and with his young rider's claim taken into account he's on a lower mark. Muftarres won a division of this last year and can go well again. He's been running over longer trips recently and hasn't been getting home so a return here and off a 3lb lower mark should be enough to enable him to get into the frame at least. The lightly-raced Tamara Bay led for a long way over a mile at Pontefract a month ago and will take some catching over this track and trip but PTOLEMY looks the one to be on. David Barron's charge stayed on strongly to land a 6f maiden at Redcar and had no sort of run on his handicap debut at Chester. He wasn't given a hard time when his chance had gone and can prove much better than his rating of 66 suggests.
