Verdict

A wide open contest to begin the card and with the stable in good form we will side with top weight SIR GEORGE to defy both that and a wide draw, with French Art, Ansells Pride and Northside Prince among a host of dangers. The selection has certainly shown his fair share of consistency, winning four of his 13 starts, mainly in claimers and sellers. He remains very competitive from today's mark and should have no problem on the ground, so we will side with him. French Art acts on good ground or softer, so this should be ideal for Nigel Tinkler's charge, who has not been seen since a decent effort from 1lb higher in December. If he is straight enough after the break then he has claims. Ansells Pride has been on the slide since scoring from a mark of 83 a couple of seasons ago and if he could reproduce anything like that ability he woudl go close, though on recent evidence he is bet watched. Northside Prince has look exposed from a mark of 65 recently, so a 3lb rise won't help him, but he might just be good enough to be part of the shake-up. Templetuohy Max is now back on a winning mark and stays at least this far, so he should be doing all his best work at the business end, though Sir George gets the vote.
