Another Royal was beaten over 3l by Le Laitier on his reappearance last season but made much greater strides than the winner and ended the campaign by completing a Redcar double. He has an obvious chance though the confirmed fitness of MESHARDAL (NAP) might prove too much for him. Ruth Carr's charge was in superb form around this time last year and had a long break before returning last month where he finished runner-up at Southwell. He showed the benefit when scoring at Catterick and with just 4lb extra to contend with will take some beating. Manatee Bay is consistent at this level though 8lb higher than his last victory and though Thatcherite looks well handicapped his best form is over the minimum trip.
