Verdict

A very open affair to round off the card and the most tentative of nominations goes to Rare Cross ahead of He's A Rocket and Dark Champion. Derek Shaw's lightly raced mare hasn't won for three years but showed definite signs of a revival last time out at Lingfield on soft ground. She only finished a head behind Black Moma and looks sure to give punters a run for their money today. Dark Champion ran better than his finishing position of fifth suggests at Beverley last time out and looks sure to run well from what looks a good draw for a horse who likes to race prominently. He's A Rocket bounced back with a win at Folkestone last time out but that was on quicker ground and a 6lb penalty will make life tougher on this slower going. Old boy Paddywack and Justalord warrant respect as course and distance winners, whilst John Keats ran well in defeat last time out and if this race doesn't come too soon then he should go well. A tough finale, and the nomination goes to Rare Cross.
