Verdict

BALIYAD was, unsurprisingly, no match for subsequent Irish Derby winner Latrobe at the Curragh in June. The second that day has also won since and Dermot Weld’s colt has tackled longer trips in both starts since so looks the one to be on today. Acrux Cass was only beaten a short-head at Killarney on his second start and should be winning soon but it’s difficult to make a case for the other three-year-olds Endearing'son and War Ensign. Calgath was placed twice at the Curragh last year but hasn’t been seen since tailed off at Navan in October and Moanbaun Maestro is only a modest hurdler.
