In depth

Verdict

September Moon could be hard to beat here with Gumley Gale appealing as the best option for the forecast. The selection has shown improved form since joining Tim Vaughan and has been found an excellent opportunity to add another success to her name. She ran well to finish third at Towcester on her return from a break and stepped up on that form when winning with ease at Fontwell last month; neither today's rivals nor the handicapper should be enough to prevent her from following up. Gumley Gale belied the years to run out a dour winner over three miles here last time. He has a little further to travel and a penalty to carry but appeals as one of the more reliable alternatives. Francines-Boy and Darinas Boy have claims on their best efforts but they, and the remainder, have a fair bit to prove at present and this can go the way of the improving September Moon.
