Verdict

All of Beacon Lady's victories on the Flat came on unconventional tracks like Epsom and Brighton and she never threatened when odds-on for her hurdling debut at Lingfield. But this isn't a great contest so Venetia Williams' mare could be worth another chance. However, we prefer newcomer BANTAM, even though she was rated a stone below Beacon Lady on the level. The selection ran well for second over 1m4f at Newmarket in October and Henry Daly has done well with similar types in the past. Towcester fourth Katarrhini may have more scope than Pandorica and You've Been Mowed while Lady Of Longstone has become very disappointing.
