Verdict

Prophete De Guye and Knock Em Dead are respected but it could be worth throwing a small investment at MOKUM at fancy odds. It's been over two years since the French bred gelding last tasted success and there hasn't been an awful lot of encouragement to be gleaned from his three starts since returning to action having missed the whole of 2009. However, the handicapper has begun to relent as a consequence and Tony Carroll has enjoyed a fine twelve months and may be able to nurse Mokum back to his best. Prophete De Guye proved his stamina for this sort of trip in no uncertain terms and has leading claims under a penalty but the handicapper appears to have dealt a little harshly with Knock Em Dead who is on a career high mark for his chase bow and more established claims are held by Arctic Shadow who has won two of his seven starts over fences but disappointed last time. There are plenty more in with claims in an open race but a chance is taken with Mokum.
