In depth

Verdict

Not too many to be interested in here and while the Ex-German Wild Power is an interesting recruit to timber here, he faces a useful performer in the shape of Alva Glen, who should make no mistake in this. The winner of a Listed race on the flat as a three-year-old when trained by Sir Michael Stoute, he has been campaigned mainly in Dubai ever since, without success. Now with Venetia Williams, he has proved costly to follow in his two outings to date over timber, going off favourite on both occasions. He got no further than the first on his debut, but shaped much better last time, before running out of puff having taken a fierce grip. The drop in trip will suit him much better here and he is taken to gain compensation. Wild Power hasn't achieved much in small fields over timber in Germany, but his trainer does well with his imports from that country and is one to keep an eye on, if not for today, certainly in the future.
