Verdict

Beggars Cross took a big step forward to score over a longer trip here four weeks ago and is probably capable of better still. But he does have to give weight here to a couple of novices who have been running well without being quite good enough to get their heads in front so far. Midnight Cowboy finished a long way in front of Beggars Cross at Newbury in March and was then only beaten a neck at Ascot but he and MARQUIS OF CARABAS have an identical handicap rating and David Dennis' charge is the least exposed. He was also only beaten a neck on his latest outing at Uttoxeter, despite being a little keen in the early stages.
