In depth

Verdict

Hurricane Thomas is a likely looking candidate for top honours and is awarded our vote. Eila has to be high on the short-list whilst support for King's Majesty or Viscount Rossini would be of interest. The selection won once in eleven starts on the Flat for Mark Johnston but has yet to threaten in three outings in decent company over hurdles. He makes his handicap debut on a realistic mark at a realistic level and merits respect. Eila lost nothing in defeat at Huntingdon last time and has sound claims, racing from just a 2lb higher mark this afternoon. Psychiatrist ran quite well over course and distance last time but of more interest is Ashwell Lad. The form of his latest effort at Kempton is beginning to work out quite well and he may well take a hand in the finish but we'll take Hurricane Thomas to prevail.
