Verdict

Dual bumper winner Alderluck made a winning start to his hurdling career when successful at Plumpton in November before losing no caste in defeat at Folkestone under a penalty on heavy ground and he has solid claims but it is hard to get away from CLAY HOLLISTER, who gets the vote ahead of Vagrant Emperor. Emma Lavelle's gelding stepped up on his bumper form with an improved effort on his first start over timber when chasing home Bensalem at Leicester and given the possibility of further improvement, he has to be considered. James de Vassy seemingly struggled under his penalty at Sandown last time and looks best watched, while Galaxy Rock looks one of the lesser lights in Jonjo O'Neill's stable from what we have seen of him so far. Nigel Twiston-Davies is back among the winners again so Quiver Hill has to be respected but he has a bit to find with Clay Hollister on their running at Sandown in December when Nicky Henderson's gelding created a favourable impression and he is taken to win again.
