Verdict

ASATEER really should be a class above although it probably wouldn't be too much of a surprise were he to find a situation where he gets himself beaten. Barry Hills' gelding was beaten fair and square at Nottingham last time, although the market suggested that we may not find him at his best after a break. He shaped as if the run will bring him on and with an official rating of 82, this son of Alhaarth should be capable of winning this before going on to bigger and better things. Layer Cake drops in trip as connections seek for an elusive first win on his 11th start, Herecomethegirls was a real no-show on her first start at Nottingham when quite well-fancied but the ground was desperate and she wasn't given a hard time; better is expected today, whilst Silvester doesn't strike as the most obvious of debutant winners. Balzarine is well-held by the selection on their Nottingham run behind Poyle Meg, so a bigger threat may come from Love Call with the drop in trip likely to suit her. This looks a poor maiden and unless one of the fillies shows remarkable improvement, it really should go the way of Asateer.
