In depth

Verdict

John Dawson is hoping for a hat-trick on board John Wade's Blazing Bull but he was all out to score over a shorter trip here last time and is 3lb higher now. Franklin Roosevelt is also on a hat-trick after victories at Southwell and Leicester and has to go on the short-list but The Magic Bishop may need some help from the handicapper if he's to get his head back in front and Fog Patches keeps finding one too good. ROI DE GARDE won here in November and the quicker ground is in his favour. He had a pipe-opener in a jumpers' bumper last month and is receiving weight all round in this. Classic Cut ran well at Carlisle two runs ago but disappointed again at Sedgefield last time.
