In depth

Verdict

This looks to lie between Liathroidisneachta and Pontiff, with the former getting the vote. Despite having been beaten at short odds last time, that came over an inadequate two miles and, particularly if judged on his second to Glasker Mill at Haydock the time before, the selection looks to hold outstanding claims today. He had the promising Pontiff well behind him in that Haydock contest although Mark Pitman's runner can still make the frame. Of the others, Geordie Peacock has yet to build on last season's bumper promise but, in such a modest contest, cannot be ruled out of a good run and Hidden Storm, although modest, has at least shown that she stays today's trip under these conditions. Overall, though, Liathroidisneachta gets a solid vote.
