In depth

Verdict

SOLO SAXOPHONE showed plenty of promise on heavy going in Ireland and though not looking suited by Catterick's sharp track made a successful debut over hurdles there. He should get a stiffer test here and will take some beating. Empire De Maulde is an interesting entry for James Ewart as he won four of his six bumper starts in France though not at the main tracks. Oxford Blu, a winner for the Prescott yard at Chepstow on his final start on the Flat, made a spectacular hurdling debut with a 20l victory at Fakenham but then disappointed at Fontwell and will need to do better. Take The High Road was well beaten on his debut over timber at Catterick though still holds Investigation and About Glory, who were further behind.
