Verdict

A desperate event to close the card and THE SNAIL is speculatively forwarded in the hope that he doesn't live up his name. Sam Whiskey needs to improve on what he has shown so far, so it may be down to Lord Samposin and Creah Bay to scrap it out as the best of the rest. The last named is a likely contender for setting the pace and, as this former Irish pointer seems to have settle in well at Evan Williams' yard, he should not be underestimated. Lord Samposin has better form figures than most and also has experience of this course. However, he is yet to win a race and doesn't leap from the page as one to trust if this boils down to a scrap. Therefore, a chance is taken that The Snail, with stable jockey Paul Moloney in the plate, is the main hope of the Williams team in the finale. The lightly raced gelding is expected to strip fitter after his reappearance at Huntingdon earlier in the month and, as the handicapper has dropped The Snail 3lb; he has sound claims in a weak contest like this.
