In depth

Verdict

GAGEWELL FLYER, a winning bumper and Grade 2 winning novice over hurdles, started long odds-on for his chasing debut at Thurles but could only finish runner-up to Shootin The Breeze. He was again well supported at Gowran but was destined for second spot when falling at the last. He may need more experience before tackling better company but this should prove within his capabilities. Big Game Hunter has gone backwards after a bright start over fences and ran a shocker at Clonmel last time while Raz De Maree also ran poorly in that event but was making his chasing debut and is likely to have come on for the experience. Latin Connection was having only his second start over fences when runner-up to Shabra Charity at Downpatrick and there should be more to come.
