In depth

Verdict

Almost all of these have been seen between the flags in recent weeks and several of them have been successful. Not Before Eight is still a youngster at this game and followed an easy maiden point success with a hard-fought victory in a better race. Twin Joy had no problems gaining his fourth point-to-point success in an open at Ballydarragh and he'll get competitive and Wild Salmon won by no less than 20l at Maralin a couple of weeks ago. Annacarton has won seven times between the flags and can usually be relied on to do his best but MERCHANT ROYAL is likely to do well in this kind of race this season and though returning after an absence since landing a novice hunter's race at Tipperary in May that's rarely a problem for one of Dermot Weld's charges.
