In depth

Verdict

Edge Closer, Remark and Hope Your Safe are the three for the shortlist and we like the claims of Edge Closer. The selection is bred to be a useful juvenile and while it is of obvious concern that we did not see him out earlier in the year, he is likely to be forward enough in his work. Mick Easterby likes to put one over the southerners so Remark has to be respected. A cast off from the Andre Fabre stable, he could be anything. Hope Your Safe is a cheaply bought sort and while values at the sales can tell us plenty, he is with a trainer who can get the best from his bloodstock. Decision Day is related to Gold Ring so may need further in time. She's A Softie is bred to get a mile although Invincible Spirit has had an amazing record as a first season sire. Danehill Sundance has form on the board and sets the benchmark for this affair. Plenty of future winners are likely to come from this race and we side with Edge Closer.
