Verdict

Billy Blue may well have the class to take this as he's lightly-raced and on a good mark but he didn't look totally straightforward on reappearance and may not represent too much in the way of value. Gang Warfare looks the other possible improver on show but we'll go with MALACHIM MIST despite the unappealing form figures by his name. He's very well treated if rediscovering his juvenile form and his recent sixth of seven at Salisbury was nowhere near as bad as the numbers suggest. He was only beaten a couple of lengths and is a speculative choice upped to 1m2f for the first time off a tempting mark. Balmoral Castle has worked his way up to a career-high mark and is more or less guaranteed to run his race. The Portman gelding is certainly one for all shortlists.
