    Verdict

There are some interesting newcomers in the field for this median auction maiden including Jamie Osborne's Compton Place gelding And A Partridge, Sylvester Kirk's Deviant Ways, who is bred for stamina, and Sawab from the in-form yard of Clive Brittain but it is WOODLARK ISLAND that gets the vote. The selection has improved with each start and, despite unseating his rider and bolting before the start, Marcus Tregoning's gelding lost no caste in defeat when chasing home Seek N' Destroy in what looked a decent maiden at Kempton. Simon Callaghan's Morning Sir Alan looks to be going the right way and has to be considered, especially as he is rated just 2lbs below Woodlark Island. Marco Botti's Puzzlemaster should appreciate the longer trip but needs to improve on earlier form. Emma Lavelle's Mystic Touch has run to a decent level in both starts and he has to be considered but preference is for Woodlark Island, who is taken to confirm the promise of his Kempton run and open his account.
