Verdict

A wide-open amateur riders' event to get things under way can go to Mister Completely ahead of Activist, Bank On Benny and Cumbrian Knight to name but a few. Mister Completely lines up on the back of a Banded win at Lingfield 18 days ago, and although that was over a mile and a quarter, hopes are high that the five-year-old will stay today's trip to follow up. He gets weight from all of his main rivals and should go close. Activist finished fourth behind Cumbrian Knight over 14 furlongs here in November and meets that rival on better terms, perhaps enough to turn the tables, and the pair will both have their supporters as well. Bank On Benny is still a maiden but is the youngest on view, and can be given a squeak on his second here at the start of December. He seemed to stay the trip well that day and has to be respected. Of the rest, Great As Gold is used to carrying big weights over hurdles and has the assistance of a decent partner in Scot Dobson, but our very tentative vote goes to Mister Completely.
