In depth

Verdict

Unquestionably the race of the day at Wolverhampton and it looks to concern Calatagan, Typhoon Tilly and Amir Zaman and we shall side with Calatagan. Malcolm Jefferson's horse is entered for the County Hurdle at Cheltenham next week but he is still relatively unexposed on the level and provided that a couple of recent runs over hurdles haven't taken their toll, he has the ability to win handicaps at this level. Paul Hanagan's booking looks to be incredibly positive on this occasion. Typhoon Tilly continues in good form at the moment and is likely to be favourite as a consequence. Connections look to have finally appreciated that the horse was been run over the wrong trip for a good few years and "improvement" has been gleaned through sticking to twelve furlongs. Do not expect to see Typhoon Tilly on the scene until the later stages. Simply The Guest is another to have shown improvement on recent form. The gelding had broken a long losing run prior to landing a hat-trick. He does run well at this time of year and has to be watched in the market again. Giunchiglio returns from a near- six month absence. Red Skelton produced a fair effort for his first run this year and can be expected to come on for that effort.
