Verdict

Porteous is upped in class off a higher mark as she chases a hat-trick and stablemate Wee Jean has the stronger form with a decent effort in the Princess Margaret at Ascot during the summer. The victory of Pound Piece over track and trip three weeks ago brings him into the reckoning while Zalzilah went close over the minimum trip here last time. Scruffy Tramp and Corncockle are less likely to stay today's extra furlong, but it should be no problem for winning debutant DISTANT PAST, who won a maiden race over 5f here by five lengths and can follow-up.
