In depth

Verdict

The trio for the shortlist here are DIXEY, Carleton and Xpres Maite and the vote is given to Dixey. The selection is a likeable filly and she wasn't beaten far in a competitive handicap at Sandown last month. She looks to have been found a good opportunity here by connections to get her head in front and from the best of the draw she looks a good bet to land the prize. Carleton is back on a fair mark and he was an eyecatcher here last time out, but the draw has gone against him today and he doesn't win as often as perhaps he should. Xpres Maite has gone well here in the past and he did win at Yarmouth back in May, but he has since been a bit disappointing and he is hard to back with confidence. More Time Tim may find this trip a little on the sharp side and he is taken on, while Silver Hotspur is hard to catch right. Dixey remains unexposed and she should give a good account of herself tonight.
